I have attended the volunteer induction today and we have been taken a tour in the gallery, the staff introduced the place and the exhibitions that are on at the moment and also introduced the roles of the the volunteer. We can choose what we would like to take part in and I have chosen to volunteer in the "Wonderful Watercolour" exhibition.

Before helping out in the exhibition, I had to first attend an induction for the "Wonderful Watercolour" exhibition, the curator took us around the hall and introduced the artwork, artists and things that are available for the visitors to view. the staff also explained the volunteer's role which is to greet visitors and to talk to them about the exhibition, try to answer their questions and have a chat to them, also try to kindly ask visitors if they would like to donate to the gallery.

Helping out in the exhibition is pretty much waiting for visitor to come and be prepare to introduce the exhibition to them. However majority of the visitors normally come into the hall and quietly walked around and view the artwork, some of them would talked about their feeling or opinions to the paintings, others would talk about the town as the paintings depicted the town Coventry and Warwickshire. Although I didn't have many opportunities to actually introduce the exhibition, I think I have definitely gain some confident to meet and talk to people I have never met. Also I have understand more about a gallery and holding an exhibition. It's a pity that I didn't get the chance to help setting up and prepare for of an exhibition as I have tried to ask whether I can get involved. The 6 days of volunteering in the exhibition is more or less the same with what I have done, apart from meeting different faces everyday, also meeting with staff, they are very friendly and kind, and I have also came across with others volunteer which are studying or working relating to Art and Design.
